London City Airport was announced winner 'Best Airport' at the 9th annual Airports Council International Europe. The ACI Europe awards ceremony took place in Istanbul on Monday 10th June, where the ACI announced its 2013 winners.

LCY was named the best airport of its size in Europe under the 1-5 million passenger category for the second year running. The airport was awarded for its 'streamlined passenger experience’, which is the core of its corporate strategy.

The British airport faced heavy competition in its category with ACI Europe's current membership consisting of over 450 airports across 46 countries as members. The judges highlighted the raped traffic growth as well as pleasant service delivery as key factors for announcing LCY airport as the winner.

Declan Collier, Chief Executive of London City Airport, said: “It is an honour to win this award and for the second consecutive year, demonstrating how hard the LCY team works to deliver consistently high standards and implement new initiatives".

“65 per cent of our passengers are business travellers and they demand that LCY provides service quality and a premium experience. We pride ourselves on the business-class standard we operate to and this award demonstrates that our industry peers recognise what we do and consider LCY to be leading the way for the industry.”

The event was attended by more than 800 representatives from major airports, airlines, national governments and other EU institutions.
